Supernumerary Ministers

Image of a Clerical Dog CollarIn principle, Methodist ministers never retire.

A minister who “sits down” in the ministry no longer has responsibility for a church or circuit, but is expected to continune to contribute to the overall ministry of the church as long as they are able. We are blessed to have several such mininsters in our circuit.

Lay Preachers

In addition to Ministers, Methodist Churches have Local Preachers. These are lay people who have other daily employment but have trained and are qualified to preach. They are not ordained Ministers.
