Second Sunday in Advent 2018.
To lead our morning Family & Parade and Gift Service we welcomed
We were joined by some members and families of our Boys Brigade company. Some of the Officers and boys brought us an amusing and thought-provoking sketch relating to advent called What If…
We brought gifts which will be distributed to Beacon House and the Colchester Women’s Refuge in order that those folk in more unfortunate circumstances might have a more comfortable time this Christmas.
Our hymns were:-
Tell out my soul, the greatness of the Lord.
Hills of the north, rejoice.
On Jordan’s bank the Baptists’ cry.
Lo, he comes with clouds descending.
O come, O come, Immanuel.
Our readings were from:-
Philippians chapter 1 verses 3-11.
Luke chapter 3 verses 1-6.
The sermon was entitled “Are You Ready?”
(Thoughts on Advent, Christmas, John the Baptist and our preparedness for Jesus).
You can hear it here.
Our united evening worship which we share with St Peters and
St Botolph’s was effectively cancelled.
There was a service held at 3.30pm at St Peter’s Church.
This was recorded by BBC Essex and will be broadcast on Christmas morning at 6am.
