WHO ARE WE?!

Castle is a large town centre church with a direct historical link with John Wesley.  The pulpit from which he preached in Colchester is in the modern building.  The congregation comes from all over Colchester and the building is ideally situated to respond to the various needs of residents of the town and visitors.

OUR MISSION

Castle Methodist Church

Is ‘Christ centred’ in its worship and witness

Strives to express the relevance of Christ’s gospel in Colchester through everything it does.

OUR CORE  ACTIVITIES

Our core activities are:

WORSHIP

EVANGELISM AND SERVICE

CARING AND LEARNING

WORSHIP

Our worship is traditional in form but we are developing a multimedia approach that enriches what we do.

Visitors are welcome and our experience is that they are comfortable and enjoy their time of worship with us.

We have strong links with the town centre parish of St Botolph’s and St Peter’s and this provides opportunities to experience an extended fellowship and different forms of worship.

We are extending the range of hymns and music that we use in worship.

EVANGELISM AND SERVICE

There is a strong tradition at Castle of service in the community.

Members actively support a range of projects such as the Street Pastors, the Night Shelter, the town centre Soup Run, the local Women’s Refuge and Beacon House.

Local organisations enjoy using the premises during the week for many types of social and learning activities.

Castle offers many opportunities for members of the community to meet together.  These include a Boy’s Brigade, Guides, the Women’s Get Together and groups for senior citizens.

CARING AND LEARNING

The pastoral care offered by the church is a strength.

A number of neighbourhood groups meet regularly for fellowship and study.

The Boys’ Brigade provides an opportunity for boys to meet socially in the context of a Christian community.

The worship services are recorded on CD and sent weekly to those who are unable to attend church.

Study groups are held to explore, in depth, key aspects of Christian teaching.

The financial resources of the church are shared with local, national and international charities.
